Permits for outdoor projects

Backyard work isn't exempt from the city — pools, gas lines, electrical for pumps and lighting, and covered structures all trigger review at Sherman's Development Services / Building Division (317 S. Travis St), filed through the Self Service Portal on the Tyler EnerGov system the city rolled out in March 2025. As with any residential project, plan review doesn't begin until all fees are paid and then runs about 15 working days depending on workload, and a required resubmittal restarts that 15-business-day clock. We submit complete plans up front so your build isn't stuck waiting on an avoidable review reset while the good weather passes.

Pools also carry safety-barrier and inspection requirements, and the permit must be pulled by the owner or a contractor registered with the City of Sherman — which we are set up to do, even though we're an Allen-based firm serving Sherman from down US-75 rather than a local branch.
