Pools & Outdoor Living in DeSoto, TX

The whole backyard as one coordinated system — not just the pool.

Pools & Outdoor Living in DeSoto, TX

DeSoto backyards have something newer suburbs can't replicate: size. The established neighborhoods across the city — and especially the larger-lot and golf-course sections around Thorntree Country Club — were laid out with deep, wide lots and real setbacks. That space is an invitation for a proper outdoor living build: a pool, a covered patio, an outdoor kitchen, and the hardscape that ties them together.

Texas Backyards, Built for Summer

Southern Dallas County summers are long and hot, which makes outdoor space some of the most-used square footage a DeSoto home has. The projects we design most often here include:

  • In-ground pools and spas, from clean modern geometry to naturalistic designs
  • Covered patios and pergolas that make a backyard usable in July
  • Outdoor kitchens and built-in grills for entertaining
  • Fire features, decking, and hardscape — stone patios, walkways, and retaining walls on DeSoto's gently rolling lots

The Remo Guys is an Allen-based design-build firm serving DeSoto from about 45 miles north. Designing the pool, the structures, and the hardscape together — rather than stitching together separate contractors — is what keeps sightlines, grades, and drainage working as one backyard instead of three disconnected projects.

Pools, Permits, and Safety Code

A pool is a permitted structure in DeSoto, reviewed by the City's Building Inspection Division for setbacks, barrier and fencing requirements, and the electrical bonding that pools legally require. Those safety rules aren't optional, and getting them right at design time avoids expensive rework at inspection. State-licensed electricians handle pool bonding and equipment wiring; we're insured and bonded on the overall build.

Registered With the City First

Here's the DeSoto detail that catches out-of-area pool and patio builders: since September 5, 2025, a contractor must hold an approved city registration before a permit application can be submitted through the CSS portal (MyDeSoto eServices). We keep an active General Contractor registration ($25, roughly a one- to two-business-day approval) with the City of DeSoto's Development Services office at 211 E Pleasant Run Rd — a municipal registration, since Texas doesn't license GCs — so your outdoor project doesn't sit idle waiting on paperwork while the season slips by.

One Backyard, One Plan

The best outdoor spaces are designed as a whole from the start — pool, shade, kitchen, and landscape in proportion to the house and lot. Reach out to start the design for your DeSoto backyard.
