Custom Home Building in DeSoto, TX

New construction from lot and soil to final styling.

Custom Home Building in DeSoto, TX

DeSoto isn't a blank-slate boomtown — it's an established southern Dallas County suburb where most of the land was developed decades ago. That's exactly why custom building here looks different than it does out on the metroplex fringe. Instead of raw master-planned tracts, DeSoto offers scattered infill lots, large estate homesites near Thorntree Country Club, and the occasional teardown-and-rebuild in a mature neighborhood with the trees and location you can't buy new.

The Kind of Custom Work DeSoto Rewards

The city's higher-end pockets — Frost Farms, Homestead at Daniel Farms, and the gated streets around Thorntree — show what's possible: substantial single-family homes on wide lots, many overlooking the golf course's rolling fairways. Building custom here usually means one of a few things:

  • A from-scratch home on an acquired infill or estate lot
  • A teardown-rebuild that keeps a prime, established location while replacing a tired 1970s house
  • A renovation so thorough it's effectively new — down to the studs, foundation up

The Remo Guys is a design-build company based in Allen, roughly 45 miles north of DeSoto. We're candid about that: we're not a local production builder with a model-home park off I-35E. We're a North Texas firm that designs and builds one custom home at a time, managing architecture, structural engineering, selections, and construction as a single accountable process.

One Team, Foundation to Finish

Because design and construction live under one roof, the house you fall in love with on paper is the house the budget and site can actually support — no handoff gap between an architect and a builder who've never spoken. State-licensed electricians and plumbers execute those systems to code, and we're insured and bonded on every project.

Permitting a New Home in DeSoto

New-construction permits run through the City of DeSoto's Building Inspection Division at 211 E Pleasant Run Rd, submitted online through the CSS portal (MyDeSoto eServices). DeSoto also enforces a contractor-registration rule that took effect September 5, 2025: a builder's General Contractor registration ($25, approved in roughly one to two business days) must be active before any permit application can be filed. It's a municipal registration — Texas has no state GC license — and we handle it as a matter of course, so plan review starts on time.

Build It Once, Build It Right

A custom home is the most personal project we take on. If you've found a DeSoto lot — or own one already — reach out and we'll walk the site, talk through what it can hold, and start the design.
