Bathroom Remodeling in Southlake, TX

The dated room in a lot of Southlake homes isn't the kitchen — it's the primary bath. The estates in Timarron, Coventry Manor, and Southlake Woods were built to a 1990s idea of luxury: a corner garden tub nobody uses, a separate cultured-marble shower, polished-brass fixtures, and a long vanity under a soffit. The room is big enough; it's just of its era. Most Southlake bath remodels we take on are about reclaiming that footprint — a large curbless shower, a freestanding tub, natural stone, and better light — then bringing the secondary and guest baths up to match.

Reclaiming the 1990s primary suite

The single best move in these baths is usually trading the unused garden tub and cramped shower for one generous walk-in shower and a clean freestanding tub. That's a real reconfiguration — relocating drains and supply lines, reframing a bench or a curbless entry, rebuilding the vanity wall — not a surface swap. Planned as one layout, the room stops feeling like a 1995 catalog and starts feeling like the suite the house always implied.

Waterproofing is the whole job

A bathroom is the one room designed to get wet, and the failures are the ones you can't see: a shower pan that wasn't sloped right, or tile set over drywall instead of a proper waterproof substrate. We build the wet areas to last — correct pre-slope and pan, a bonded or sheet membrane behind the tile, and drainage that actually falls to the drain — because a curbless shower that leaks into the subfloor is an expensive lesson. On slab homes that matters even more, since water has nowhere good to go.

Moving fixtures on a slab

Most Southlake homes are slab-on-grade, so relocating a toilet, shower drain, or freestanding-tub filler can mean cutting and re-pouring part of the slab — the kind of thing to know before the layout is final. A state-licensed plumber handles the supply and drain work; a state-licensed electrician adds the GFCI-protected circuits, dedicated lighting, and the exhaust fan vented outside that keeps a stone shower from breeding mildew.

Permitting and the registered-contractor rule

A bath remodel that relocates plumbing or electrical is permitted through the City of Southlake Building Inspections division on the Tyler EnerGov Self-Service portal. And Southlake won't issue that permit to a general contractor who isn't registered with the city first — an annual, online registration under its contractor ordinance — so an unregistered handyman can't pull it for you.
