Little Elm calls itself the town with a lake attitude, and it lives outdoors. Between the marinas, the swim beach, the wakeboard park, and the miles of shoreline trail, residents already spend the season outside — so the backyard is where a lot of Little Elm homes get their best upgrade. Building the backyard as one space

The backyards that work are the ones designed together rather than added piece by piece. A pool, a covered patio, an outdoor kitchen, a firepit, and the decking and drainage that connect them all share grades, utilities, and sightlines, so we plan them as a single project. On lots that slope toward the lake, drainage and retaining aren't optional details — they're what keeps the whole thing intact through a hard North Texas storm.

Pools, patios, and the trades

A pool is its own permitted structure, and it comes with code that exists for good reason: a required barrier or enclosure around the water, and electrical bonding that has to be done by a state-licensed electrician. Gas for an outdoor kitchen or a firepit and any new circuits are permitted trade work too. Those licensed trades pull their own permits on the job, which keeps the safety-critical parts inspected and on record.

Permitting through the Town of Little Elm

Pools, covered structures, and outdoor kitchens are permitted through the Town of Little Elm's Building Safety Division at 100 W. Eldorado Parkway, filed on the town's MyGov portal — the same system that handles contractor registration. Little Elm requires each contractor to create a "Collaborator" account before it will issue a permit, and we keep ours current and file under it. The town targets a ten-business-day plan-review turnaround, so we can give you a real timeline for breaking ground rather than a hopeful one.
